Sometimes a big pot of oatmeal for a small gathering just hits the spot. It’s easy to make a big batch of overnight steel cut oats then have lots of toppings to choose from. Set out a little oatmeal bar for everyone
to create their own individual bowls and all are happy.
Here are my
go-to toppings and combinations for my morning oats:
My favorite toppings:
dried apricots
dates
dried cherries
jam or fresh fruit
nuts – walnuts, almonds or hazelnuts most often
seeds – flax seed, hemp seed or chia seeds
coconut flakes
maple syrup
peanut butter or almond butter
honey
steamed milk or almond milk
Best combos:
hazelnuts, dates and maple syrup
jam and coconut flakes
almond milk, dried apricots and almonds
peanut butter, honey and banana

Love all those toppings. My favorite is almond butter and a nice jam…and sometimes with chia seeds for an extra crunch.

I love the butter and jam combo. simple and soo good. I really enjoy making my oats flavor something familiar like toast or a muffin 🙂
For special occasions only: coconut flakes, almonds, almond milk and chocolate chips! Yum!

I remember the first time I stopped by a friends house unexpectedly in the morning. she made oatmeal and pulled out a ton of topping and add-ins. changed my life and oatmeal forever! My favorite is fresh blueberries, maple syrup and pecans (the same when I do breakfast quinoa with coconut milk!)

Love the look of this! Oatmeal is one of my favourite breakfasts – so good with some mashed banana in it then topping it with pecans and banana slices! Yum!
