There’s not much better than a bowl of hot oatmeal on a cold fall morning. Oatmeal, in one form or another, gets me through most of the winter and over the years I’ve found ways to spice up my weekday morning ritual. I created this Baked Apple Oatmeal using Shirley J Timeless Grains and have been enjoying it ever since. I make a batch of this at the beginning of the week and reheat it every morning with some steamed milk. It’s so comforting that I’ve even eaten it as a dessert a few nights.
The greatest thing about this recipe is that the ingredient list is short and simple with no added sugar. What makes this so breakfast so cosy and sweet??… check out the
recipe on Shirley J website to find out what the secret ingredient is. Also, leave a comment with favorite oatmeal flavor for a chance to win a package of Timeless Grains. And because I really want many of you to try out my favorite Timeless Grains, there will be 3 winners, each getting 2 bags of Timeless Grains! Winners will be announced on Monday The winners are Christine P, Carla and Natalie!!
Becky this looks amazing! I’m super into maple on my oatmeal right now.
I’ve been enjoying my oatmeal with homemade soy milk. It’s really good if I just leave them in the refrigerator overnight and don’t cook them at all.
:))
homemade soy milk!!! Lilly, that sounds awesome!! I also love soaking my oats overnight – especially steal cut oats!
I love real maple syrup and fresh apples in my oatmeal. Or, if I’m feeling really fancy I’ll add coconut milk!
I love oatmeal with a little bit of peanut butter. I’ll add some chia seeds if it’s a bit too runny or just to change the texture.
I was craving some summer in my oatmeal this week and am loving a frozen peach/almond/ginger combination.
Sounds like a perfect combo! I love ginger with peaches.
More oatmeal, yay! I just made homemade almond milk for the first time, which pairs great with hearty oats. Seriously, the possibilities for mix-ins are endless!
I love making chocolate oatmeal with a sprinkle of cocoa powder and cinnamon for added spice! It’s best during the wintertime!
Chocolate oatmeal – now that sounds amazing!! I could totally have that for dessert or breakfast!
I love pumpkin oatmeal! I’d love to try the Timeless Grains!
I love to keep my oatmeal pretty simple, some cinnamon, honey and fresh fruit sliced on top.
Haven’t tried the homemade soy milk suggested earlier but it sounds so good I might have to take a shot at it.
I like vanilla almond oatmeal.
I love my oatmeal with almonds, dried cherries, brown sugar, and milk. Yum! Would love to try these grains.
I’m a cherry girl too – none of that raisin business 😉
A tiny bit of brown sugar and a lot of cinnamon is the best way to eat oatmeal. I often slice a banana into the bowl too – so yummy!
I don’t eat oatmeal by itself but love it to bake with.
That oatmeal looks SOOO good! my favorite flavor is cinnamon raisin with honey or brown sugar!
I love oatmeal with peaches 🙂 Or if i feel like something sweeter.. I put a few chocolate chips in it!
Brown sugar, cinnamon, and a touch of vanilla. Haven’t actually tried baking oatmeal before. Gonna have to give it a shot.
Carla, you must try baking oatmeal!! It’s one of my favorite ways of eating it and so good if you’re making breakfast for the week or for a crowd!
I love Shirley J! I like apple cinnamon oatmeal.
My favorite is peaches, prefer fresh but its more often frozen, with toasted walnuts.
I love fruit, such as apples and cranberries in my oatmeal. Natural sweetness is my favorite!!
Christine, you would love this recipe then – the natural sweetness of the apple butter makes the oats rich without any added sweetener!
