Ironically, I first got hooked onto hot toddies when I was pregnant. The nonalcoholic kind that is. Which is really just hot water, lemon, honey and cinnamon, but something about this simple warm drink was so comforting. This season, I’m not pregnant and have continued to enjoy hot toddy cocktails but the boozy kind more often. We change things up from time to time adding ginger or a cocktail mixer to the drink. My favorite combo so far has been with ginger simple syrup or Sugar House Libations Pear Ginger Simple Syrup (they can be used interchangeably in this drink). Ginger adds a little spice that is perfect when you have a little cold or just want a drink with a little kick.
We found this amazing local product that has been great to change our home-made cocktails up from time to time. Sugar House Libations sells simple syrups with all kinds of flavors and you don’t have to use them in alcholic drinks either, try them as cream soda mixers or with sparkling water for a good treat. We included these Sugar House Libations in our last Gather Box. The Gather Box is something we started just this season, where we sell boxes filled with lots of local products for people to try out then we host a gathering where people can pick up their boxes and meet the local purveyors of the yummy products. It’s a beautiful way for the food production system to come full circle and for those enjoying local products to really get to know the makers and find the best local products. Our first Gather(ing) was a fun success and we’ll be hosting another one next season! For more info, visit Gather online.
I hope you all have a wonderful holiday and stay warm with a warm drink in hand 🙂
