Gluten Free Chocolate Banana Bread

This is a delicious guilt-free and gluten free Chocolate Banana Bread recipe.

  • 2 large organic (free range) eggs
  • 1/2 cup coconut sugar
  • 2 medium bananas
  • 1/2 cup avocado oil, or a mildly flavored oil
  • 1 cup Bob's Red Mill almond flour
  • 1 cup Bob's Red Mill buckwheat flour
  • 1/3 cup dutch baking cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/6 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup mini dark chocolate chips, or finely chopped chocolate


  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons coconut cream*


  • Preheat the oven to 350 and grease a regular sized loaf pan. 
  • In a medium bowl use a fork to whisk the eggs.  Add in the coconut sugar. Add bananas and mash well using the fork. Add in oil. 
  • Add in all of the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. 
  • Spoon out 2/3 of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips then top with the remaining batter. 
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out mostly clean (there will be melted chocolate in the center from the chocolate chips.
  • As the loaf cools, make the ganache. In a small sauce pan over low heat, melt the chocolate with the coconut cream. Stir continuously as it melts. Pour this thick warm ganache over the loaf. 
  • Slice and serve! 


You may use coconut milk instead of the cream.
