Thanksgiving Recipes on Pinterest

As Thanksgiving comes near, I’m starting to plan out what dishes I’ll be making for the perfect table spread.

I created a board on Pinterest that is stock full of Seasonal Thanksgiving side dish ideas.  Several local Utah food bloggers are contributing to the ideas on the pinboard. I have already tried out a few of the recipes like Quinoa Stuffed Acorn Squash and Butternut Squash Soup topped with Hazelnut Cream, Pears and Bacon (pictured below). They will both be making an appearance this Thanksgiving.

Last night we had a group of friends over for a little pot luck pre-Thanksgiving meal together.  We each brought untraditional Thanksgiving side dishes to share. Our long wooden table was loaded with the most beautiful colors of fall, from bright pomegranate seeds, to earthy wild rice and rustic green brussels spouts. Oh and a new favorite for our Thanksgiving spread, stuffed spicy peppers!  They were amazing, thanks to Justine. This is one of my favorite times of year so I plan on living it up and celebrating with friends and food as much as possible.

I hope the Seasonal Thanksgiving Pinboard will inspire you this Thanksgiving to eat seasonally and locally.  They are really one in the same because if you are eating locally then you are also eating what’s available during harvest season.  Here is a great write up from the NY Times on why the trend of eating locally is such a good thing: NY Times on Eating Locally.
