My favorite Christmas recipe and new music reviews

Written by Becky

One of the meals I look forward to most every year is Christmas morning breakfast. I’m happy with whatever breakfast-y recipe is served whether it be pancakes, french toast, cinnamon rolls, or eggs. My mom would usually make either french toast or pancakes. I’ve seen many delicious recipes for Christmas morning cinnamon rolls lately. But my favorite Christmas morning dish must be my college roommate’s mom’s French Toast Casserole with Praline topping. It takes a little time to make but its well worth every minute. Decadent, delicious, sinful! Nicole reminded me of this recipe when she asked for a good holiday brunch dish. So, Nicole ~ let us know how it goes! I haven’t made it this year so sorry there will not be a photo. Here is the recipe.

French Toast Casserole with Praline Topping

INGREDIENTS
1 loaf of french bread
8 eggs
2 c half & half
1 c milk
2 TB sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
dash of salt
maple syrup

Praline topping:
1/2 lb. (2 sticks) butter
1 c packed brown sugar
1 c chopped pecans
2 TB light corn syrup
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg

DIRECTIONS
Slice french bread into 20 slices, 1 inch thick, and arrange slices on generously buttered 9×13 in. flat baking dish, overlapping slices. In a bowl, combine eggs, half & half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Beat with whisk or beaters. Pour mixture over bread and spoon between slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate over night. For praline topping mix all ingredients together and refrigerate overnight or mix together day of.
Next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spoon praline topping over bread and bake for 40 min. Serve with maple syrup.
