‘My 7 Links’ – Tops Blog Posts

Written by Becky

My dear friend Barbara invited me to participate in a blogging project called My Top 7.  Basically, it is a project among bloggers to gather up the best posts they’ve published on the web. I thought it was a fun opportunity to reflect back on some previous posts and to participate in something with fellow blogging friends. My favorite posts are by far the ones which the photos and recipes cause me to reminisce over stories, travels, and friendships, just like the photo of the Almond Torte above- a dessert I enjoyed with dear friends when we traveled around Spain together.   I hope you’ll enjoy this list of favorites even a fraction as much as I enjoyed writing it!

My most beautiful post-  A visit to Les Madeleines Bakery with blogging friends

I thought this post was beautiful in several ways.  It was one of the first times I got to meet other bloggers in the Salt Lake City area, whom I have now become dear friends with. Also, the post was esthetically  beautiful because my talented friend Amy came along and took stunning photos.

Most popular post-  New York Times Chocolate Chip Cookies

In my quest to find the best chocolate chip cookie recipe I stumbled upon this recipe from the New York Times.  The recipe is now be a family favorite of ours and apparently many other people have enjoyed it too because it is my top post!

Most controversial post- A Visit to Nuch’s Pizzeria in Salt Lake City

Food blogging isn’t really that controversial I don’t think But occasionally, someone’s opinion differs than yours and they feel the need to express that on the web. Although, I have had several great experiences at this local pizza, pasta and calzone restaurant, I can’t guarantee that everyone will have the same experience.  This blog posts received a lengthy comment from someone who had a less than wonderful experience with their service.

Most helpful post-  What is a pour-over coffee?

As the coffee scene in Salt Lake continues to develop I found that many people are still discovering the terms and techniques to making a good cup of coffee.  This is a post that explains what a ‘pour-over’ coffee is and why it tastes so good!

A post whose success surprised you the most- Birthday Cake

A post inspired by an old faithful friend who baked me several boxed cakes over the years, proved to be a popular post. Sometimes its the most simple posts or recipes that get the most attention. This is a recipe for a simple yellow cake with chocolate icing.

A post that didn’t get the attention you felt it deserved- A Long Distance Dinner to Communal in Provo

First of all,  I think my series of Long Distance Dinner ideas haven’t got the attention they deserve. Not that I, nor my blog deserve any attention at all, but I just think that the idea of taking a short road trip with friends to a food destination has the potential to be SO much fun. If you haven’t done it before I encourage you to… pick out a restaurant worth trying that is 1-2 hrs away, select a few friends that you’ve been wanted to get to know more, and hit the road! I promise it will make for a great experience. If you’re looking for a restaurant to visit, please do check out Communal.  It has inspired many recipes, like these blueberry muffins, AND inspired me to cook more often with friends and enjoy more meals with people whom I barely know.

The post I’m most proud of-  My Grandmother’s Southern Chess Pie Recipe

My grandmother holds a special place in my heart.  Her style, tenaciousness, and care for people are all qualities I hope to possess.  When I make this pie I think of her and am inspired. This pie also won a local award and was published in the Salt Lake Tribune.

Thank you Barbara for you your friendship and for encouraging me to reflect back on this little creative outlet, that we all have come to know as blogging!

I’m passing the baton to Jenn at Delightful Delicacies, Allison at The Blogivers, Heidi at Foodie Crush, Lindsey at Cafe Johnsonia, and Emily at Is This Really My Life.   I hope that you will all enjoy participating in the My 7 Links too.
