Inspired Retreat at Deer Valley

Inspired Retreat

Written by Becky

In early December, before the holidays swept me off my feet and got me completely out of my routine of blogging, I attended an incredibly rewarding blogging retreat.  Organized by Carrian of Oh Sweet Basil and Deer Valley Resort, a group of bloggers gathered to get some inspiration.  I’ve been processing the things we talked about over that weekend and hope to really put some things into practice this new year.  I previously shared about what I hope to remember from the weekend but I also must to tell you all about the delicious weekend we had!

Deer Valley house decorated by Rod Works

It all started when we arrived at our beautiful home of the weekend at Deer Valley, decorated  from floor to ceiling in holiday theme by Rod Works. Then a delicious meal at Deer Valley’s Mariposa, where many tried oysters for the first time and we enjoyed a myriad of seafood delicacies as well as detailed small plates and decadent desserts.

Deer Valley

The next morning we woke up early for a yoga session with Lole fitness followed by a light breakfast of homemade granola with Pacific Foods nut milk, hot Charming Beard Coffee, and yogurt from Real Foods.  Not too long after our stomach’s settled, we were whisked off to ski the powdery slopes of Deer Valley Resort in style with skis from Skis on the Run. Deer Valley treated us like royalty, as they do all of their guests, and even made a special place for Everett in their childcare so I could ski!

Tomato Soup

After a few cold runs we went back to the house and warmed up with homemade soup and a grilled panini bar (using Hamilton Beach Panini Presses). We all used Star Fine Foods specialty oils to glaze our panini breads and drizzle over our soups (the flavors of the oils really take the food to the next level!)  The afternoon was embraced with pajamas and pure relaxation (it’s hard to put the work down as bloggers but it’s so good when we do!).

Riverhorse on Main in Park City

That evening we were treated to the ultimate Park City dining experience at the classic Riverhorse on Main.  I enjoyed a dish new to their menu, Cioppino. Cioppino, is fisherman’s stew, a favorite dish of mine, and Riverhorse definitely pulled through with an incredible version of it!  Kristy and I devoured the chocolate molten cake for dessert declaring it the best dessert shared at the table. We all slept full and happy that night.

homemade waffles

The next morning I woke up to the smell of homemade waffles coming out of the kitchen. Hamilton Beach makes a fabulous waffle maker, perfect for big buttermilk waffles topped with fruit and yogurt OR go big with fried chicken!  The rest of our morning was pretty chill as we packed up, some returned to the slopes, and we all lamented not having more time together.  Blogging has a special way of bringing together new friends because of our bond in food.  We left that afternoon with a bitter sweet feeling, having new inspiration and departing from new friends we may not see for a while.  But our bags were full, even fuller than when we came, having lots of goodies from Red Maple Run, Plum Pretty Sugar, Grace and Lace, Nature Box, Brin and Bell, Gypsy Moon Beams, Beauty Box 5,  as well as a full lunch from Whole Foods.

It was a truly beautiful weekend, filled with delicious shared meals and tons of meaningful conversations; one we all wished could have lasted a little longer!
