A few of My Favorite Things: Deer Valley Turkey Chili
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
After a few years working in Deer Valley, I joined the bandwagon of turkey chili addicts. Now, I am working in Salt Lake but I still find my way back to this favored resort at least once a year and of course I must get a big bowl of turkey chili when I do. Did you know Deer Valley has been rated the number one ski resort in North America for 4 consecutive years?! Its not only about the skiing, I think the food plays a big role too. The resort has a huge gourmet salad bar, massive buffalo burgers, local beer on tap, and cookies the size of your ski helmet. If you're in love with this chili as I am, you can purchase the Deer Valley turkey chili mix at grocery stores around Park City, or can also make a similar chili at home, White Chicken Chili. What's your indulgent ski resort food?

Best Blueberry Muffins
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
On my quest for several "best" recipes, I have also been seeking out a Blueberry Muffin Recipe that stands out among the rest. Previous best recipe searches have uncovered my Best Granola Recipe, Best Bran Muffin Recipe, and Best Vegan Cookie Recipe. I figure that if I'm blogging a traditional recipe such as this one, it should be my very favorite, right?

LUNCH AT EVA
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
You may be a little tired of me talking about Eva. If you are, please ignore this post. But if not, I must tell you about their lunch! I just got to experience their lunch for the first time with a bunch of ladies and we had a ball. Margarita Pizza, Crisp Rosemary Parmesan Fries, Turkey Cranberry Sandwiches oozing with brie... I wrote all about our lunch experience at Eva on Taste of Salt Lake. Also, if you missed my previous posts, here is my post on their brunch, and one of dinner on the patio. Go, have some tapas already!

Wedding Dresses in Salt Lake City
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
A few lovely friends of mine are getting married this summer. In hopes of helping them gather some creative inspiration for their special day, I hit the web for ideas. After perusing the beautiful blogs such as Style Me Pretty, Once Wed, and Anthropologie's new wedding website, I thought Salt Lake brides need something like this but with a local twist.
My dear friend, Amy Lashelle, and I hope to team up this year to provide you with some insider info on weddings in Salt Lake City. She is a local photographer and wedding guru of the area as well as a trusted friend, so I know her information will be stellar. Plus I love her vintage style and eye for beauty.
Our first bit of local wedding info is in the arena of dresses, because that's one of the first decisions to be made, right? Here are Amy's recommendations for Salt Lake City vintage styled wedding dresses. If you have a friend that is getting married soon or maybe you have a wedding date in the near future, please feel free to pass this info along.

Shabu, Park City Utah
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
Josh and I first visited Shabu several years ago after the rave recommendations from my sister and brother-in-law. They were visiting Park City over their anniversary and their dining research led them to Shabu. Ironically, they live in China yet they still choose Asian food for their anniversary celebration. They returned from dinner, praising their every dish. Soon after we visited Shabu and were convinced, it was our favorite Asian fusion-style restaurant around.

Misc. Vintage Clothing in Salt Lake
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
Finding a local business, with above-and-beyond customer service and lovely items for sale seems rare. Misc. is a vintage clothing store on 2nd East and Broadway, connected to the popular vintage furniture store, The Green Ant, and is all you want in a local business.
Misc (pronounced Mis-sy) is owned by Missy Barber, fashion advisor and vintage collector. She is what makes this store so wonderful. If they don't have just what you're looking for, she can help guide you to something that might end up being better than what you wanted in the first place.

Have you been to The Red Moose yet? I feel like I'm stepping into a rustic Colorado cafe at this place. Gigantic gooey cinnamon rolls and unique coffee blends are a few of their specialties. You can read my full review at I Heart Salt Lake.

I wanted to gather up all of my favorite local Salt Lake and Provo food blogger posts for Valentines Day to wrap up my series on Chocolate. I hope you've found something delicious to make. I've you missed my previous Valentine's posts, here is a recap: I made Vegan Chocolate Truffles made with medjool dates, cocoa, almonds and agave, which make great gifts for or healthy sweet snacks. Also posted, was a Flour-less Chocolate Cake, made spicy with crushed gingersnaps. And if you're looking for a locally made chocolate treat to give as a gift, check out my list of Salt Lake Chocolates.

Butternut Squash Soup with Sauteed Pears, Bacon, and Hazelnut Cream

A friend asked me the other day what my ideal Valentines Day dinner would be. After thinking about it I decided it would have to be a light flavorful meal with a rich and decadent dessert. And of course, a good bottle of wine to go along with it.

Flourless Gingersnap Chocolate Cake
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
Anything that makes a cake more gooey and dense is always good, right?! This cake is somewhere in between fudge and a brownie, two of my favorite treats.
When I think of fudge, I think of my mother in law and when I think of brownies, my good friend Bekah comes to mind. Since it is Valentine's Day I thought I would tell you about these two lovely women in my life and their love for chocolate.

Chocolate in Salt Lake City
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
To go along with my Valentines Chocolate Series, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite chocolate treats around Salt Lake City.
Hands down, my favorite chocolate cookie is Ruby Snap's Chocolate Mole Cookie. She made the cookie in partnership with the Rico Brand restaurant, Frida Bistro. The Frida Cookie is a mole cookie with a molten chile de arbol ganache center, topped with slow-roasted, cinnamon-toasted pepitas.

The little green alligator

This was one of his favorite toys. The green alligator no longer exists. One day we did find a green arm in a pile of Henry's throw up. Gross but also humorous.

Raw Truffles with Ghirardelli Chocolate, Nuts and Medjool Dates
Posted by
Becky at VintageMixer
I love visiting a friend I haven't seen in a while and exchanging all of the rich details of our lives that we've missed out on recently. This usually includes our latest recipes. On a recent trip to Austin, I visited Christina, a friend from high school days. We recalled memories of old cars, getting in trouble with the cops (yes, I did have a little rebellious streak in me once upon a time), new jobs, new friends, and, as always, food.
We exchanged lots of fun ideas for eating healthy. She keeps lots of cut up (ready-to-eat) raw veggies in her fridge along with some spinach dip for a easy healthy snack. For the sweet cravings that we all have, she makes these little magical date and chocoate balls. Her recipe inspired this post.
