Utah’s Seasonal Produce in August

Written by Becky
August is a bountiful time in Utah. The list of ripe fruits and vegetables in season during August in Utah are many, from heirloom tomatoes, to juicy melons, zucchini, and spicy chilies. A time of reaping what you sown in your garden or from a local farmer’s garden.  The Farmer’s Market is full of colorful produce and happy vendors and your pantry should be full of fresh ingredients. I hope your month is full of tasty meals including some of these local fresh foods.
To download this month’s wall paper on your computer, please see the first post on Seasonal Produce in Utah.
Here are some recipes to make use of all of the great foods in season:

The picture from this month from my trip to Jacob’s Cove Farm where I discovered the most beautiful heirloom tomatoes.  You can by them at the downtown Farmer’s Market this month and receive $1 off when you mention SLC Foodie. Just a little gift from me to you!

  1. Thanks so much Rebecca! I enjoyed checking out your blog for the first time. Love the fashion photos around SLC and of crouse the photos from Bruges, also a favorite of mine!

  2. thank you for including my recipe in your pretty little round-up :) i look forward to each month here in utah and all of the produce it brings us!

  3. I wish Utah could be August, September, and October in a nice little rotation. Plenty of variations in temps, and the food is the best. Thanks for the list Becky!

  4. I second the motion by Mike that Utah just have August, September, October, repeat, repeat, repeat! Perfect weather months.

I'm very envious of those heirloom tomatoes. Mind are mostly not ripe yet, and if it doesn't stop raining sometime soon I may never get any ripe ones.

Thanks for the mention of my Easy Cheesy Zucchini Bake, definitely my favorite new recipe so far this year using garden produce.

  5. Mm your hazelnut zucchini bread looks delightful. We of course have an overabundance of zucchini growing in our garden so that recipe is definitely going to be coming in handy.
