Life Statement

Being a lover of design and old treasures, I saw this poster and had to post it. This is what a I hope my life to be about...simplicity, and seeing beauty in the ordinary. What are some of your life statements? Post a comment for a chance to win a tasting class for two at Tony Caputo's. You can read more about the Chocolate Tasting Class that I attended at Caputo's here. Winner will be chosen at the end of this week. More fun designs here.

  2. "keep calm and carry on" gotta keep on moving through life and not let little things disrupt

  3. i would say that my life statement would be "Live a Life of Love". It's kinda cheesy, but it's all-encompassing and what i strive for every day!

  4. I like the saying - I never said it would be easy only that it will be worth it. I think this especially applies to having kids!

  5. "Work smarter, not harder"

This would be one of my more favorite life statements. It is something that can apply to many aspects of life. I also think that it correlates nicely with your quote.

You can spend you whole life working hard, but if there is no quality(smart working) being done, all bet on a "successful" life quietly float out the window.

The same holds true for cooking. Some of the best food I've made/consumed is truly simple in form and preparation, but are able to show you flavors like you never thought were possible.

  6. My mother always said "Remember who you are and what you stand for." It's a great life statement! I also love "Stand for something or you'll fall for anything."

  7. Living Simply is a lost art, a casualty of consumerism. It would be great to return to basics. Visually the 2 color red and white poster creates a pretty striking image.

  8. My life statement - hard to nail it down, but it would have to be to live today. So many people just survive or get through the day, and I want to live and savor every day I'm given. Living simple is a part of that, really.

  9. For me this statement really hits on healthy food intake. With so much over processed food in todays society, it's hard to get a healthy meal. But in keeping meals simple, you can always come up with a good option.

  11. "The future is no place to place your better days" is one I've tried to live by for a few years now. A lot of people think "when (such-and-such) happens, I'll be happy". But it's just a never-ending life-long list; live your best days now!

  12. Favorite 'life statement' recently:

"In every person, there's far more good than bad."

My mother posts for "A Bountiful Kitchen". She recommended your blog to me- Would love to attend a class with her :)

  13. what you have experienced, no power on earth can take from you.
it encourages me to make each experience a wonderful one worth having forever.

  14. I always try to remind myself to enjoy the moment. Stop worrying about the past or the future - just enjoy the experience of what's happening right now.

  15. Love is when you are okay with the other person's nerdiness.
(I made that one up, and it hasn't failed me yet!)

  16. "it is said that without the culnary arts the crudeness of reality would be unbearable."

OK- maybe that's just a foodie life statement and not for life in general, but it rings true to me. Sometimes I feel like my life revolves around food. It's what you do with someone when you first meet them, when you want to celebrate with those you love, when you need comfort or a pick-me-up, and something to make when you want to be creative or make something for someone else to enjoy. It's an activity where you can bond and converse. What would life be without food?
It's too easy to complicate life with things that don't add to the beauty of it. If we focus on the seemingly "simple" parts of daily life, (Family. Friends. Food.) we will find joy and meaning!

P.S. I saw the post on the chocolate class you attended, so I researched it yesterday. As a devout chocoholic I'm pining to go!

  17. My Foodie Manifesto:

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

    (Borrowed from J. R. R. Tolkien)

    Cheers!
